Many Evangelical Christian Leaders and Christians in general are cosying up to Glenn Beck but beware!
The words of LDS (Mormon) Church President Gordon B. Hinkley in regards to whether Mormons believe in the Christ of The Bible & Christianity:
“As a Church, we have critics–many of them. They say we do not believe in the traditional (Biblical) Christ of Christianity. There is some substance to what they say. Our Faith, our knowledge, is not based on ancient tradition (The Bible) . . .Our faith, our knowledge comes of the witness of a prophet (Joseph Smith) in this dispensation (What the Book of Mormon says)” emphasis mine.
Mormons reject the truth of the Bible in preference to the fables of the Book of Mormon. I say fables because the Book of Mormon has been shown to be historically false, contradicts The Bible and makes factual errors in regards to Biblical History!
Leaders in the Mormon Church attempt to discourage doubts voiced by members of the Mormon Chruch by telling them to trust their heart & to trust their “burning in the bosom” or emotion as the witness that the Book of Mormon is true even if what it says is devoid of ANY factual historical proof or disagree’s with The Bible!
This is in diametrical opposition to what the Bible says about trusting in your emotions and your heart.
Proverbs 28:26:
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
There is a parallel to what the leaders of Mormonism tell their members about trusting in their heart and what you see in modern Pentecostalism. Modern Pentecostalism has become ship wrecked because it relies more on the emotional experience to the extent of ignoring God’s Word. Even if the emotional experience and the fruits of it denies God’s word!
Jesus himself said in Matthew 24:5: & 24:23-28
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many . . . .
Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
“The Prophet of this dispensation” that the Mormon President Gordon B Hiinkley speaks about is what Christ spoke of: “False prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible even the elect”
Beware of false prophets no matter how good their message seems, and no matter how much it tugs at our patriotic heart strings!
