I like Jentezen and I think he loves God, but this is simply a sign of things to come. I guess we have to make church “fun” since parents are no longer teaching their children the “fear of the Lord”. The material isn’t offensive, but the message is one that I must say, will not produce revival. Prosperity and the pleasing of man has corrupted what true Christianity is all about.
Do you go to this church regularly? It was during a series on Fear Factors…it all tied together over 3 sermon’s. And there is a creative director that is responsible also.
The dancing may have gone too far, but the message was clear on how the world thrives on the dark and how that way of living ends up in doom, hell. Thank you.
Carla,
It doesnt matter whether the message was clear or not!
There was no place for the playing of this type of music by these “artists” in a church period!
Did you know that everytiime one of their songs is played they profit from it via royalties!
And Mr. Franklin provides a very poor example of spiritual oversight by his statement that it was not his idea for this production.
And if you would listen to the audience they were yelling approval and applauding the music and the production. This type of pragmatism ie mixing of secular with the Godly produces a perverse and world loving message, not a Godly, Holy Spirit Filled message!
If you would study God’s Word you would see that the downfall of the anceint Isrealites was from them first mixing smaller and then ever greater amounts of ungodly and anti-God elements into their worship of God! Until their religion had nothing to do with the Biblical God but a “god” of their own making and hence resulted in a complete separation and alienation from God of the Bible. And then their complete downfall.
John,
You are soooooooooo correct! I attend the church in Southern California that was taken over by JF in 2007. JF and his staff do not care about taking the time to worship God in Spirit and truth following biblical guidelines. They are blatant in their stance that they don’t care about anything but pandering to the youth; the pastors and staff from Georgia all make the same statement: “The focus is on the youth; the older people are here to stabilize.” By the way, ‘older’ means anyone who is over the age of 21 which means that you have no pastor and no ministry available for you.
JF keeps stating his mandate is to get ‘souls, souls, souls!’ I could see his point except the Bible gives the command to make Disciples, not just put on a 45 minute rock concert (no worship at all!!!) combined with a ‘hip’ 20 minute (max – I’ve timed them…) message and an invitation to accept Jesus as Savior. What you end up with are people who don’t even truly know what they believe. They think anything is okay in church if the pastor does it.
The sad thing is, there is NO discipleship or follow-up with the new converts (with no intentions to do so at this point) So now we have people (including JF’s staff) that firmly believe “…you have to catch JF’s vision!” instead of seeking the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness as Jesus said. We literally have some who are exalting JF’s authority above God. They come for the ‘star power’, ‘flash’ and entertainment provided by a sense of celebrity and the fact that he only has one service a week in California on Sunday night (FYI – they discontinued all other services and ministries at the church in California because 1. JF’s Georgia folks couldn’t be available to control them, 2. They do not trust the people in California and most important 3. A Sunday evening service generates huge numbers by pulling people from other churches who are attracted by the above).
Is it any wonder we have people who call themselves ‘Christians’ in these situations, who attend their church regularly and yet cuss like a sailor, drink booze like a fish and sleep with anything that walks upright? As Mark Chirrona said on TBN in November 2007, “..the people of God are getting tired of entertainment. They want and need the glory of God and revival in the church!” The sad thing was JF sitting right there shifting uncomfortably in his seat, he would not commit to agreement in prayer for this on-air and when asked for comment all he could do was restate his ‘vision’ to do what it takes to reach youth.
It’s a sad situation that many are praying God will visit with true revival. Everything I’ve written is from first-hand experience and is not intended to attack JF, but rather inform so you can know how to pray. We need to seek God’s Face not man’s approval or conformance to their plans. Let’s agree in prayer that God will intervene and bring revival not only to this church but the entire U.S. and Canada!
BE YE SEPARATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree so much with you John. I guess that these “new age” preachers today just decide to overlook the scriptures that teach us to “come out from the world and be a seperate people”. Here’s what I don’t understand…why does JF feel that HE has to jet out to southern California every Sunday to “run and control” the church? Can he not trust some staff and preachers that live there in that community to lead worship and preach? Why does he have to have his name on a chruch on the other side of the country? Why can’t he expend all his time and efforts in reaching as many people as he can in Gainesville Georgia and the surrounding areas? Has anybody heard how much jet fuel is costing these days? Yet, people continue to give money to him because he tells them,”you’re giving to the kingdom of God”. No, you’re paying for his jet fuel cost to jet clear across the country every Sunday when there is no need for it. It’s called being “high and mighty and puffed up”. It’s all about JF, not JC!!!!!!!
This is definitely a type of church leader sacrificing biblical christianity at the altar of secularism and carnality! No wonder America is apostasizing!
I too like JF, and have his fasting book. I love it! I do however have a problem with this. The Bible clearly tell us to be seperate! I have the DVD’s on “They sold their soul for rock and roll”, and Micheal Jackson is in it. Have we come to the point where we the Church feel God is not enough, and we must mix with the world to reach the lost? When I came to Christ, I was looking for something different! I believe the Church has become Carnal. Look I am only 28 years old, so It’s not like I am older and am old fashion. I love praise and worship, but God does not need the world’s help! He is an awesome God!
God help us realize that we are deceiving souls by the thousands with this kind of garbage going on in churches, and help us fall flat on our face and cry out for forgiveness!!!!!!!!! BE YE SEPARATE SAITH THE LORD!!!!! For goodness sake, does it have to get any clearer!!
