Pride would never motivate anyone to lay down their life for the name of Jesus Christ. Please share this one with GCM Watch, as some time ago he raised the issue of "is it ever okay to deny Jesus Christ?" The responses varied on both sides. It would be interesting to see the responses to this
real-life issue!

Thanks for sharing. again.

Watching one of the glitzy edifices of the American Evangelical Movement toppling over in slow-motion is like watching an old Vegas casino implode: While you're glad to finally see the end of a giant, garrish monument to the Baal of Entertainment, you're soon filled with fear at the thought of the terrible thing that's going to rise out of that dead mound of plaster & dreams.

The US government needs to realize that what this country needs more than health care or a stimulus package is a decrease in the national debt. According to a guest speaker on CNBC, "We have a huge amount of debt. Instead of the government doing that, now they're trying to look at stimulus plans and things that may inflate assets. That may run out of control.” In the end, what the government is doing to get us out of the mess may hurt us and make the situation worse. http://www.newsy.com/videos/the_burden_of_debt

In most churches I have attended in the last decade, 'worship' is performed and viewed, not participated in. If worship is truly for the Lord, put the band at the back of the church (including the song leader), or at least off to the side. Just put the words on an overhead. Ditch the concert/performance hall setup.

I think that at some stage we (and the “we” will need to be defined) have uncoupled communal worship from daily Christian living. Worship has become an event as opposed to a way of life. We live in a pop candy culture where if Sunday worship includes a drum, an electric guitar and a emotional lead voice it's considered good without any reflection on whether or not the heart of the people are focussed on bring glory, honour and praise to God. I have little faith that much will change in the main sway. Part of the refining of the church I imagine will be a mass falling away of the wishy washy mass gatherings of pseudo Christians.

For myself I pray that Romans 12 will be true of me: “1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, {which is} your spiritual service of worship.”

It would require an act of Congress to change this new law.

But that would not happen unless the Republicans had the majority in Congress and made the decision to change the law.
