Great re-post, John. It's amazing how much the church doesn't know about the end times. In the 70s, it was a hot topic, but today it seems this hardly gets a mention.

Recently, I've realized (big light bulb!) that we are not first and foremost citizens of the USA, or anywhere in the world, but citizens of the Kingdom of God. Duh! And who taught me this? Muslims of all people! Muslims are not first and foremost citizens of any nation or kingdom. Their loyalty goes straight to Allah (poor choice on their part, alas).

As I read more and more about this, the Holy Spirit began to whisper to me (or I began to hear, more likely) that I shouldn't mourn so much over the death of the United States, as though it were my mother. The church is my mother and God (YHWH) is my father. Jesus is our elder brother, our bridegroom and our soon coming King. All the nations of the world are nothing before Him. He is our home, our loyalty, our lord and our great reward.

Yes, this nation has been a wonderful thing--an aberration, really, for where and when else have so many freedoms and godly principles ever come together into one nation? Yes it has always been tragically flawed, and yet where, in this fallen world, has such a thing every existed before? And now we see it dying, and maybe it's right to mourn--at least a little bit.

But the death of our beloved nation heralds the coming of our eternally glorious and beloved King, and how can my heart be long sad with that prospect coming so close? Whatever we may have to walk through to get to that state, He will be with us and He will be our strength.

Maranantha--Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
