The job of the church is to glorify God as God and to provide a body for Christ on the earth (to BE that body.) If we are living our lives in Christ, then Christ will be expressed before the world. This does not mean that the world will love Him (or us), but merely that the world will see Him. In this we have miserably failed, but not all of us, and not all the time.

The job of the church is not to be "good deed doers." Anyone can do good deeds. Good deeds proceed out of our relationship--our oneness--with Jesus and with one another, but the good deeds are not the cause, nor even the primary effect. They are a side-effect. The main effect is that Christ be magnified for all the world to see Him.

To preach that Jesus must be somehow made "attractive" to the world (and don't say that exclusive NAME), is to preach a man-centered gospel. Jesus did not come to the earth to make our lives better. He came to get Himself a body and a bride--His church. All who will are commanded to come and experience the ultimate inner circle. We are invited to be one with the Trinity and with one another--to be part of the body of Christ. How could anyone ask for anything more?
