I believe some muslims have a genuine search for God that takes place during Ramadan or such places, they miss the mark, becuz of their clerics and their beliefs that are taught them. They respect Jesus and say he is a prophet, but they lack the courage to say He is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, no MAN (woman or child) can come to the Father but by ME! Mohammed nor can a figment of men's imagination(Allah) give men the LIFE that Jesus speaks of! Paul spoke of vain imgainations and the greeks had many vain imaginary things as do Mormons, and even Catholics do by imagining the deity of Mary, she cannot be divine, becuz ALL flesh is as grass says Peter and that doctrine totally opposed the truth written in divinely inspired scripture! There are too many truths of what we even observe to suggest that Mary had a supernatural nature and it would take great imagination to devise deity for her!
I would have to say that those fellows that signed that document, signed it for themselves and not the churches they may try and represent!
As someone has said, "The road to heaven is paved, asphalted-in my interpretation-with good(noble) intentions"

Love of God? God who? Muslims say: "Come to common terms [a common word] as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him..."

"we associate no partners with him"? Aren't we forgetting Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit?

I think it's pretty clear Muslims and Christians will "come to common terms..." when Christians renounce their faith (John 14:6 "I (Jesus) am the way, the truth and the life.") and become Muslims.

Furthermore, the Muslim expression in the recent "A common World (as opposed to the earlier "Word") between us and you of "love of God and love of neighbor," is curious since Israel is a neighbor to Muslims who have announced Allah's express orders to annihilate it and who are making every attempt to do so. And have we forgotten the "love of neighbor" expressed in 9/11?

I do not appreciate New Age "Christians" such as Rick Warren and Brian McClaren speaking for me, and consider myself a Bible-inerrant follower of Jesus Christ and Him crucified; He Who has absolutely nothing in common with Allah.

Therefore I am deeply appreciative of those of Wheaton College who withdrew their names from "Common Word" and even more of those who refused to sign in the first place.

I interacted with a Muslim for some time, in person and also through e-mail. I met him on the street at a university. He had told me that he was searching for truth and was considering Christianity. After a number of months of prayerfuly trying to convice him of the diety of Jesus Christ, and other issues, we came to an impass. Every point that I made, he rejected. He also tried to tell me that his Allah and the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were the same God. This interaction between us prompted me to look very closely at foundations of what I believe. There is just no way that both faiths can extrapolate backwards to common ground. I eventually told him that there was only one possible source for his "holy book", and that it wasn't God. That was the end of our dialogue. All that we can do in situations like this is to expose them to the Word and let the Holy Spirit do the work. Dave in Ontario, Canada
