Yes, this is a good letter...

it is rather odd to hear my pastor say he is obligated and so are we...

what use to be thought of as "provision" from God is now thought of as provision of the congregates... no wonder he feels he has this obligation... and no wonder the messages come across soft; as to not ruffle any feathers.

Quote: {Too many believers, spiritual leaders, and teachers are unprepared to fight the type of spiritual, intellectual, and socio-political battles that two thousand years of our predecessors in the Church accepted as their inescapable duty. Only a relatively small army of dedicated believers have been holding the fort while the rest of us decide whether or not to fight. We are on the sidelines, imprisoned, first, by our own material and social preoccupations, and second, by the daily and weekly maintenance of the house of God itself. But neither of these is our highest calling in a desperately confused and dying world. As satanic ideas about sexuality perpetuate, we must arm ourselves for battle where the Enemy is attacking.}

Out of every dollar given toward the tithe 80 plus cents goes toward the church building, lay people, and upkeep.

It is only estimated that 20 percent of the laypeople actually do the work in this building called God's house.

It is believed that if these buildings were not in existence the church would dwindle. Go figure... and what organic matter are they ingesting?

Since many are blinded to this... even if they did read this letter, they would only see it as someone blowing off steam and too, they are the HARDEST ONES to reach... a stiffed neck people.

I still believe compromise has it's reward in hell.

Yes this is a powerful letter and the obvious silence by those in the pulpit betrays a very telling fact:

They are fearful of having their position taken away.

The vast majority of Ministers will not touch this issue as they know that to speak against Homosexuality via what the Bible says in the pulpit will bring the wrath of our liberal congress down on them.

And persecution for their faith is not something that they want to entertain.

Excellent letter.

".... This confusion, discouragement, and seduction are exacerbated by the relative silence of the church...."

Amen. The relative silence by the majority of Pastors on this issue from the pulpits across America, tells me they are either afraid to speak out to their congregations or believe the issue isn't important.

Thanks for posting this letter John, im going to copy it and pass it & the link on to friends--perhaps they will forward it on to their own pastors.
